Grandparents and their unconditional love
It all starts in the month of March every year when my parents start the countdown for a month-long staycation. They start with getting the house cleaned, and linen organized & by the time we are near April 20 their excitement holds no boundaries. Alcohol, snacks, chocolates, you name it & it’s ready for us at home. They do this every single year with the same enthusiasm & I often wonder how.
As I observe them, trying to understand how can they be so
calm & at peace with all of us creating a ruckus at home, I am left
speechless at their love for us. Every year in the month of May, we 4 sisters
come home to spend time with our parents along with our kids & our parents
look forward to these 30 days of quality time with their kids + grandkids.
It’s 7:00 pm & there is total chaos in the living room….with
12 people in the house out of which 6 kids ranging from a 25-year-old to a nine-year-old, 4 sisters & mom & dad….obviously, there will be chaos. In this
chaos I saw my parents in absolute peace, smiles on their faces & enjoying
this chaos.
They seem to enjoy each and every moment with each one of
us. My mother tries out new recipes every day for us & when asked if she
is tired…..she laughs & says “how can a grandmother ever get tired with so
much love around her”. My father sharing his life experiences with his
grandkids at the dinner table & all of them listening to him trying to
learn something from it.
My grandparents were very proud to have 4 granddaughters and would proudly tell everyone how fortunate they are to have us. I often
felt amazed by the thought process my grandparents had. I have fond memories
of telling tales to my grandparents & them listening to us patiently. I
always wondered how & why they love us so much and love spending time with
us. It is only now, that I see my parents spend time with their grandkids I try
to understand what true love is.
If there is one thing that I would want to learn and
implement from my parents, it would be, “Love is what you experience & how
you pass it on to the next generation”.
So well written.....every word radiates the emotions in a beautiful way. We truly are fortunate to be blessed with the best parents and grandparents in the world. So many childhood memories just flashed through my mind while reading this. Looking to create many more beautiful memories together of selfless love.
